With the 2026 election season already in full swing, our first Briones Conversation of the year features Jon Slavet, Republican candidate for governor and host of the State of Gold Podcast. An experienced leader in both the private and public sectors, Slavet entered the gubernatorial race to prioritize lowering taxes, fully funding law enforcement, building more homes, and welcoming businesses back to California.

We’ll hear from Slavet on how his background as a tech founder and CEO informs his politics, how he can distinguish himself in a crowded field of candidates, and — if he wins — how he plans to work with Democratic supermajorities in the state legislature.
